A 72-year-old woman died and four people were injured in a crash involving an ambulance on Thursday. Debra Brookhouser, who was being transported by the ambulance, died at the scene. 17-year-old Seth Feyerherm, who was driving a Toyota truck at the time, is in extremely critical condition with head injuries.
Three Gretna volunteer firefighters were also injured. Fire Chief Rodney Buethe, who was driving the ambulance, had minor injuries but was not transported to the hospital. Assistant Fire Chief Nicholas Pierce and Firefighter David Harrig were taken to an Omaha hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Douglas County Sheriff’s Office (NE) have released preliminary information in the fatal crash at 204th and Harrison. The patient being transported in the ambulance was Debra Brookhouser. The driver of the second vehicle is Seth Feyerherm and is in extremely critical condition. Three Gretna Volunteer Firefighters were injured but none are currently hospitalized. The investigation is ongoing.
The Gretna Fire and Rescue medical unit was transporting Brookhouser with lights and sirens when the ambulance collided with two other vehicles. The crash is still under investigation and there is no information on the cause at this time.
